4 Tau Gamma fratmen in hazing death fled PH–immigration

MANILA, Philippines – Four of the 17 Tau Gamma Phi fraternity members who have been tagged as suspects behind the killing of hazing victim Guillo Cesar Servando have left the country even before they could be placed under the lookout bulletin of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
“As of July 11, 2014, bureau records show that Esmerson Nathaniel Calupas, Hans Killian Tatlonghari, Eleazar III Pablico, and John Kevin Navoa are out of the country,” said Elaine Tan, BI spokesperson, in a statement.
The BI reported that Navoa flew to Taiwan on July 1 and may have taken a connecting flight to the United States or to other countries.
Others included in the LBO were Cody Errol Morales, Daniel Paul Martin “Pope” Bautista, Kurt Michael Alamazan, Luis Solomon “Louie” Arevalo, Carl Francis Loresca, Jomar Pajarito, Vic Angelo Dy, Mark Ramos, Mike Castaneda, Tessa Dayanghirang, Yssa Valbuena, an alias “Rey Jay” and an alias “Kiko.”
The Immigration Bureau implemented on Wednesday the lookout bulletin order (LBO) as per orders of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.
De Lima also directed the BI to coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) should the other suspects attempt to leave the country.
But Tan clarified that: “An ILBO issued against a person does not necessarily mean that they cannot leave the country, it only directs our immigration officers to coordinate with DOJ and NBI if there is an attempt to depart.”
She said the decision of the immigration officer whether to allow or deny departure would be based on the advice of the DOJ and NBI.
Servando died on June 28 after sustaining multiple injuries in brutal hazing rites by Tau Gamma Phi fraternity De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde chapter. He was a sophomore Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (HRIM) student of the college.
