Doctor: Panic attack prompted Gigi Reyes’ hospitalization
MANILA, Philippines–A high-ranking hospital official said that the reason for lawyer Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes’ hospitalization before dawn Thursday was because she suffered from panic attack.
Medical Director Rodencio Sta. Lucia of the Taguig Pateros District Hospital, in a televised interview, said Senator Juan Ponce Enrile’s former chief of staff suffered from panic attack with seizures after she was transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Taguig.
In her five-page motion appealing her commitment order before the Sandiganbayan, Reyes said she suffered from panic attack after she knew she would be detained with nine members of the New People’s Army at the BJMP female dormitory in Camp Bagong Diwa.
Sta. Lucia said Reyes had high blood pressure when she had her initial checkup at the emergency room of the hospital, but it has normalized after she was given medication.
He said Reyes was given an anti-anxiety medicine and would undergo further medical examinations.
