MANILA, Philippines–A medical team from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) went to Camp Crame on Thursday morning to conduct a medical examination on Senator Juan Ponce Enrile‎.

The medical report to be accomplished by PGH physicians will be the basis of the Sandiganbayan Third Division on deciding whether Enrile should be detained in a hospital or not.

The team arrived at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital around 11:20 a.m. aboard a PGH-owned white van.

Enrile will stay at the police hospital pending the commitment order from the Sandiganbayan.

On Wednesday, the anti-graft court ordered the PGH to submit within three days a recommendation if the 90-year-old senator necessitated hospital arrest.

The doctors will appear before the court on Monday to present their recommendation if “there is an imperative need for the continued confinement of (Enrile) in a government hospital.”

But the court allowed Enrile to access other medical facilities outside Camp Crame “in case of emergency or necessity” or if “the medical procedure required…is not available at or cannot be provided for by PNP General Hospital.”
