Erwin Tulfo posts bail in libel case filed by cop
MANILA, Philippines–Broadcast journalist Erwin Tulfo posted a P6,000 bail on Wednesday for the libel case filed against him by a policeman who accused him and his brother Raffy of calling him a thief on their TV program.
Through his lawyer, Tulfo also asked the court to dismiss the case against him while Raffy earlier pushed for a reinvestigation, saying they were not given a chance to submit counter-evidence during the preliminary investigation.
According to Tulfo, the case was not supported by evidence and should be dismissed for lack of probable cause. Judge Eleuterio Bathan of Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 92 earlier ordered the brothers arrested for the libel case filed by SPO3 Abubakhar Maglangit.
Maglangit alleged that the Tulfos showed his photograph and called him a thief in their TV program “T3” on its Nov. 19, 2011, episode.–Erika Sauler
