MANILA, Philippines—The Sandiganbayan reset the pre-trial of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. for plunder to August 27 to allow the prosecution to pre-mark the evidence against him.
The report said Revilla left the anti-graft court at about 10 a.m.
According to Revilla’s lawyer Joel Bodegon, they asked for the postponement of the pre-trial to give time for the marking of documentary exhibits.
“It’s more convenient for a speedy trial proper if the documents were marked,” he told reporters after the hearing.
It is during the pretrial when witnesses will also be presented.
Meanwhile, the preliminary conference, when documents will be marked, is set on: July 14, 15, 18 and 25, August 1, 6, 8, 11, 12, 13, and 15.
Revilla returns to the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame where he has been detained since June.
Revilla, Senators Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile have been arrested for plunder and graft for their alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.
