MANILA, Philippines — Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes apparently does not care what the public will say, so long as she is under police custody even if it meant possibly sharing a detention facility with former boss Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, a source said.

The source, who requested anonymity, said he personally overheard Reyes telling her lawyer that they should file a motion for her to be transferred to the Philippine National Police Custodial Center.

The source said Reyes said she does not care about the public if they think Reyes only wanted to be reunited with her former boss Senator Enrile, with whom she was romantically linked.

“I don’t care kung ano isipin ng publiko. Eh ano ngayon kung andun si Enrile (I don’t care what the public thinks. So what if Enrile’s there?),” the source quoted Reyes, who was then wearing over-all pajamas, as saying.

Reyes’ camp later filed a motion for her to be transferred to the PNP Custodial Center. Enrile is under police custody pending his motion for hospital arrest.

The source also heard Reyes as saying she deemed it “humiliating” that she should be detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), as told to her by the court when she surrendered.

Reyes, however, may be spared from BJMP after the Quezon City jail, crowded with hardened criminals, told the court it does not have the capacity to secure such a high-profile detainee as Reyes.

The source also said he saw Reyes with her family at the lone detention bed hugging each other tightly while crying.

Reyes is Enrile’s co-accused in the plunder and graft case over the pork barrel scam. Reyes was involved as Enrile’s former chief of staff.
