Teener shot dead by motorcycle robbers

BULACAN—Armed men on Thursday shot and killed a 15-year-old high school student in front of his younger brother and sister before stealing his motorcycle in Barangay Balasing here, police said.

Edrian Sarmiento died from several bullet wounds in his body for refusing to let go of his motorcycle, said Supt. Rodolfo Hernandez, Sta. Maria chief of police.

Sarmiento was driving his siblings, a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, to school at 6 a.m. when they were blocked by two men who threatened to shoot them.

The younger children were able to alight from the motorcycle and flee, but Sarmiento stood his ground and was shot, police said.

The boy’s killers fled with his motorcycle. Mayor Bartolome Ramos put up a P50,000 reward for information that may lead to the arrest of Sarmiento’s killers.

Also on Thursday, police shot and killed two suspected motorcycle thieves along  Plaridel Bypass Road in Barangay Borol  in Balagtas town.

Police chased the thieves after they took the motorcycle of Wilma Abalona. Police said the slain suspects were not the men who attacked Sarmiento. Carmela Reyes-Estrope, Inquirer Central Luzon
