NUEVA ECIJA—Cornered by police, a suspected robber committed suicide early Tuesday by slashing his throat and stabbing his abdomen with a bolo in Barangay Nazareth in General Tinio town in this province.

Felipe Jane, a native of Dumaguete City, was found dead after he exchanged shots with policemen, said SPO1 Jonathan Malicse, the lead investigator.

He was chased by policemen and soldiers, who responded to a robbery alert made by a village official.
