MANILA, Philippines—Businesswoman and alleged pork barrel mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles feels sorrow for the misfortune of others who were dragged in her quarrel with nephew and whistleblower Benhur Luy, her lawyer Stephen David said Thursday.
Napoles and Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla were arraigned Thursday morning before the Sandiganbayan for plunder on alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
David said Napoles wanted to sit beside Revilla but was disappointed when she was ushered on the left side portion of the court.
“She is sad. She told me she feels sorrow that her quarrel with Benhur has caused the misfortune of others. She said she wanted to talk to Bong (Revilla) and the other accused,” David said.
Luy worked for Napoles’ JLN corporation but the two had a fallout in 2012.
Luy’s relative sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation after the now government state witness disappeared.
He was rescued by the NBI at a condominium unit at Pacific Plaza Tower in Bonifacio Global City on March last year. Napoles is facing a separate case on this incident before the Makati City Regional Trial Court.
