MANILA, Philippines – Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada’s mother and former Senator Luisa Ejercito will be the personal physician of the detained legislator.

The move would allow her to visit her son any time of the day.

Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Philippine National Police Public Information Office (PNP PIO) chief, told reporters on Tuesday that ‎Estrada declared his mother as his personal physician.

“That means she could visit [her] son every day,” Sindac said.

With Estrada’s wife Precy, Ejercito paid a visit to the detained Senator on Tuesday afternoon.

“The visit lasted for more than an hour only. They checked in at 1 p.m. and left at 2:12 p.m.,” Sindac added.

Based on the visitation policies of the PNP Custodial Center, spiritual advisers, counsels and physicians are exempted from the regular visiting hours.

For both Estrada and Revilla, visitors are allowed only on Thursdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The police official also stressed that only 30 visitors are allowed inside the one-hectare detention facility.

“It’s already up to the senators how they would divide the limit of 30 visitors,” he added.

But Sindac said, the Senators’ relatives could seek permission from the PNP Headquarters Support Service for any special visiting privileges.
