Lightning kills 2 in Ilocos Region

MANILA, Philippines–Two were killed while two others were injured after  being struck by lightning in Ilocos Sur and La Union, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Friday.

Bonifacio Fabro, 23, of Lantag village in Sta. Cruz town in Ilocos Sur, was tending his farm when hit by lightning on Wednesday.

Two of his companions–Randy Fabro, 26 and Carlo Magno, 24–were injured and brought to Sta. Lucia District Hospital.

In La Union, another farmer was also killed by lightning also on the same day.

He was with his father when the lightning hit him at his back.

Laroyo was rushed to Rosario District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
