Three persons are being investigated by the Mandaue City police for their involvement in the fatal ambush of a businesswoman in Don Andres Soriano and Plaridel Streets, barangay Looc in Mandaue City last Friday.
Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office, said one of the three persons may be the gunman who shot down 37-year-old Irish Marie Hugo Gonzales inside her van.
He said they are coordinating with the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, Cebu City Police Office and Cebu Provincial Police Office in their investigation.
SPO1 Dionisio dela Pena, IDMB team leader, said they recovered two different slugs from the crime scene.
Morpos said the two empty shells recovered from the crime scene will undergo ballistic examination to determine what firearm was used to kill the victim.
He said witnesses told them that the backrider was the gunman.
Chief Insp. Rex Lomente, IDMB chief, said Crisostomo Alcala, who was with Gonzales during the incident, will also undergo investigation since he didn’t report the incident immediately to the police.
“He looked for a lawyer first before he went with the police,” Lomente said.
Alcala supposedly was a fixer at the Land Transportation Office who faced estafa charges following a complaint by a barangay official. Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
