MANILA, Philippines – The bank deposit of the former chief of staff of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile was reduced to only P6,700 from over P20 million, records from the Manila City Regional Trial Court Branch 22 has shown.
Based on the provisional asset preservation order (PAPO) issued by the Manila RTC Branch 22, the Security Bank account of Gigi Reyes with account number 05122-324683 currently has P6,700.
However, the account, based on investigations conducted by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), was credited with P21,213 million on June 26, 2010 five days after John Raymond de Asis, an employee of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind, delivered P30 million in cash which was sourced from JLN Corporation.
Similar huge amounts were also deposited to Reyes’ East West bank which currently has a balance of P511,522.40.
Also, Pauline Labayen, chief of staff of Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada received huge chunks of funds from whistleblower Benhur Luy. Currently, the Bank of the Philippine Island accounts of Labayen has a P1,334.27 balance while the other account has P94,060.35 balance.
This is the second PAPO issued by the Manila Court. Associate Solicitor Isar Pepito said the investigation on the assets for possible inclusion in the forfeiture proceeding is ongoing.
