5 arrested for illegal gun possession in Davao del Sur
DIGOS CITY, Philippines — Police arrested at least five persons on charges of illegal possession of firearms in Davao del Sur during the past few days, including a man described by the authorities as a gun for hire.
Senior Superintendent Michael John Dubria, Davao del Sur police director, said the latest to be arrested were four men who could not show licenses or permits to carry when they were accosted for carrying guns in Barangay (village) Guihing in the municipality of Hagonoy Tuesday afternoon.
Seized from Andres Caberoy, 50, Andres Lanticse, 42, Ricardo Lanticse, 40, and Jefferson Sagot, 21, all residents of Kiblawan town, were a 9-millimeter sub-machine gun with nine rounds of ammunition and two caliber .38 revolvers.
On Saturday, Cyril Abapo, a suspected gun-for-hire, was arrested when he brandished his weapon inside a house in this city, Dubria said.
“All suspects are now in jail and have been charged in the prosecutor’s office,” Dubria said.
