TAYUG, Pangasinan—At least 39 people have been treated in a government hospital here in the last eight days for suspected food poisoning after eating salted eggs, a hospital official said on Monday.

The patients, who were mostly from this town and neighboring Sta. Maria town, complained of diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain, and had fever, said Dr. Alfredo Sy, chief of Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (EPDH).

Sy said they all claimed to have eaten salted eggs bought from ambulant vendors, sari-sari stores and public market vendors in their towns.
