‘Habagat’ to bolster rains in Northern Luzon

MANILA, Philippines—With the rainy season underway, the southwest monsoon is expected to bolster the rains in Northern Luzon, the weather bureau said.

In its weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that the southwest monsoon, known locally as “Habagat,” would bring light to moderate rains over Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of islands.

Pagasa added that the regions of Ilocos and Cordillera and the provinces of Bataan and Zambales would also experience the same precipitation.
