‘Habagat’ to bring heavy rains in Northern Luzon

MANILA, Philippines—With the rainy season officially in full swing, the southwest monsoon is expected to strengthen the precipitation in the Philippines, the weather bureau said.

Locally known as “habagat,” the southwest monsoon is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains over the Batanes group of Islands, Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands, regions of Ilocos and Cordillera and over the provinces Of Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga and Bulacan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.

It added in its weather advisory that Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon would have occasional rains.
