MANILA, Philippines–The low pressure area (LPA) that entered the country’s area of responsibility on Monday morning could hasten the arrival of the wet season, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its early-morning weather bulletin on Tuesday, Pagasa said that the LPA was hovering over northern Luzon, or around 310 kilometers north of Laoag City or 65 km north of Basco, as of 4 a.m.

Pagasa added that the southwest monsoon (habagat) is affecting Luzon, bringing monsoon rain to the Cordillera region, Central Luzon, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon island.

Other parts of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.–With Jeannette I. Andrade, PDI
