A 22-year-old woman killed herself on Saturday afternoon, just months after her two failed suicide attempts.
The body of Mariejul Pardines, a resident of Area-7 Nawasa Line in Barangay (village) Holy Spirit, Quezon City, was found hanging from a beam in her house.
Her brothers Joemar and Jaymark tried to save her but doctors at Far Eastern University Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (FEU-NRMF) Medical Center declared her dead on arrival.
PO2 Jogene Hernandez of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said that the victim’s siblings told them that she tried twice to kill herself in October when she became depressed after her partner left her.
In her initial attempt, Pardines drank poison but her relatives were able to bring her on time to the FEU-NRMF for emergency treatment. She was then transferred to East Avenue Medical Center where she was operated on.
While recovering from surgery, she tried to kill herself again by jumping from the third floor of the hospital. She survived although both of her legs were broken.
