MANILA, Philippines—Six survey inspectors of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources were abducted by still unidentified armed men in Compostela Valley on Friday, May 30, the military said.

The inspectors were on their way to a validation and survey on the National Greening Program of the government in New Leyte village, Maco town about 2 p.m., Eastern Mindanao Command spokesperson Captain Alberto Caber said in a belated report on Saturday.

The survey inspectors were identified as Kendrik Wong, Nico Lasaca, Chris Favila, Matthew Cua, Jonas Loredo and Tim Sabina.

Military and police are already on pursuit operations.

No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction so far, Caber said.

“Our primary concern is for the safe release of the civilians,” Lieutenant General Rainier Cruz III, Eastern Mindanao Command chief, said.
