Napoles had sex? What a laugh, says lawyer

MANILA, Philippines—When the lawyer of Janet Lim-Napoles told her about the reports saying “her urges” may have caused her vaginal bleeding, the alleged pork barrel scam queen just laughed.

Lawyer Stephen David, one of the counsels of the detained businesswoman, told reporters on Monday that they, including Napoles, shrugged the claims aside that the bleeding she had been experiencing for the past weeks was caused by “private and intimate contact” or sexual intercourse.

“When I called her up, she told me: ‘attorney naman, pwede ba ‘yan sa dami ng bisita dito? Halos hindi na nga umalis tapos ang dami ng stress ko dito sa dami ng ginagawa ko?’ ” David said.

In Friday’s hearing at the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC), Dr. Efren Domingo, Napoles’ gynecologist, said in a testimony that Napoles “is human, she has her urges.”

“The urge Dr. Domingo said, that was nothing. We just laughed about it,” David said in Filipino.

The lawyer said the “urges” and “intimate contact” were merely possible causes behind a woman’s bleeding, but this does not particularly apply to Napoles.

To explain that it was impossible to have sex inside Napoles’ room, David said an aide looks over her everyday.

“[There are aides] who supervises her and sleeps inside her room. These aides take shifts,” he said. “That’s why we cannot understand how could an intimate contact be possible there?”
