Palace faith in Abad is ironclad
MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Monday said it would defend government officials who are believed to be faultless amid allegations that they were involved in the pork barrel scam.
“We will defend those who we truly believe,” presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda told media.
Earlier in the televised press briefing, he said Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad’s introduced reforms and these only show that he is not capable of misusing public funds.
“(Secretary) Butch Abad has been portrayed in a quite a negative fashion. But the reforms that he have made…You will not believe that Butch Abad is involved in any way with respect to the allegations,” Lacierda said.
The presidential spokesperson reiterated that the administration’s policy is to look into the evidence linking other government officials to the controversy.
