Farmer shot dead

DIGOS CITY, Philippines—Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a farmer in Barangay (village) Poblacion, Hagonoy town, on Friday, police said on Saturday.

Senior Supt. Michael John Dubria, provincial police director, said Julio Taypin Benlot, 35, a resident of the same place, was walking with two other persons when shot dead. His companions were unharmed.

He said the suspects fled following the incident. It was still not clear as to what could have prompted the shooting, Dubria added.—Orlando Dinoy
