Another ‘pork’ scam whistleblower drops Baligod as lawyer

MANILA, Philippines –Another one of the whistleblowers in the pork barrel scam dropped Levito Baligod as her lawyer in the investigation over the alleged racket of diverting public funds for kickbacks.

A radio report said Merlina Suñas dropped Baligod and thanked him for his service to the whistleblowers.

According to the letter forwarded to the National Bureau of Investigation as quoted in the report, Suñas wrote: “I am thankful that for more than a year now, you have stood beside me despite all the difficulties that we encountered along the way.

“Regrettably, I have decided to continue my battles without you guiding me,” she added.

Suñas did not give a reason for dropping Baligod.

This was the second time Baligod was dropped as lawyer. Principal whistleblower Benhur Luy had also removed Baligod as his counsel, saying the lawyer has been busy with his other advocacies.

Suñas and Luy were among those who blew the lid on the scam of allegedly diverting public funds to ghost projects for kickbacks under the scheme of accused mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.
