The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is looking for a few good men.
NCRPO spokesperson Supt. Robert Domingo said on Wednesday that since they announced in March that they were looking for 9,000 new policemen for Metro Manila, only 3,500 have applied.
At present, the NCRPO has around 18,000 personnel. For this year, it needs an additional 9,000 to improve the current policeman-civilian ratio of 1:600, far below the ideal ratio of 1:500.
In an advisory in March, the NCRPO said that those applying to become policemen must be Filipino, between the ages of 21 and 30 and a college graduate. They should also present a certificate of good moral character from their school.
Applicants must have passed at least one of the eligibility exams for the National Police Commission, the Professional Regulation Commission or the Civil Service Commission.
Male applicants must be at least 5.31 feet (1.62 meters) tall while females must have a minimum height of 5.15 feet (1.57 meters) tall. They should not be more than or less than five kilograms from the ideal weight appropriate for their height, age and sex.
Applicants must submit their accomplished PO1 Recruitment Application forms which can be downloaded from the Philippine National Police web site to the Personnel and Human Resource Development Division of the nearest police district office.
They should also bring their accomplished Civil Service Personal Data Sheet, two 2×2 ID pictures and a whole body picture with white background, two valid IDs, authenticated birth certificate, transcript of records and diploma, certificate of eligibility and board rating, and local clearances.
