MANILA, Philippines—A lawmaker of the House of Representatives claimed he was included on the list of beneficiaries in the pork barrel scam simply because he was the leader of the minority bloc.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, San Juan representative Ronaldo Zamora said he was included on principal whistleblower Benhur Luy’s list of beneficiaries by virtue of his being minority leader.

“In the case of the Inquirer, they probably picked up my name simply because I’m a minority leader now, which is not entirely fair,” Zamora said.

“I realized if you’re looking for a name to brandish in the paper, then let’s start with the minority,” he added.

The Inquirer reported Luy’s records showed that Zamora allegedly coursed his Priority Development Assistance Funds to the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) when he was representative from 2001 to 2010 and from 2013 to present.

The Inquirer said there was no Special Allotment Release Order (Saro) but Zamora was on Luy’s record.

Zamora denied he has ever transacted with the DOTC.

“My name is on some list about a project which I know nothing about,” he said.
