MANILA, Philippines – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) vowed that it would probe the events that led to the untimely passing of Andrea Rosal’s two-day-old daughter as leftists groups continue to blame the government for the baby’s death.

Major General Hernando Iriberri, Philippine Army Chief, on Monday said that they would investigate Baby Diona Andrea’s death.

“We will ask the doctors about the procedures they did,” Iriberri said at Fort Bonifacio.

Iriberri added that it’s the policy of the AFP to provide captured rebels “the best medical attention.”

“You know that ever since, it has been our standard procedure to treat the wounded rebels whom we have caught,” Iriberri said in Filipino.

Personnel of the Intelligence Service of the AFP arrested Rosal on March 27 when she was already eight months pregnant. Rosal is the daughter of deceased NPA spokesperson Ka Roger Rosal.
