Mom appeals for help for sick teen son
MANILA, Philippines—Harvey Mikko Zamora has not been to school for the past two years as he has been undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Initially, doctors who examined the 16-year-old boy from Novaliches, Quezon City, thought he was suffering from dengue, followed by tonsillitis, according to his mother, Luzbelle Zamora.
“He had a recurring fever for several months. We found out later that his hemoglobin had dropped to an alarmingly low level. He had no more platelets. They were overtaken by white blood cells,” Luzbelle said.
The teenager was referred to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center for more extensive checkups.
Luzbelle appealed for help, saying they needed to raise P60,000 for Harvey to undergo laboratory exams, a bone marrow test and removal of excess fluid from his body.
