CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines—Former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chair Margarita Juico said her resignation would not affect the agency’s plans to launch new games aimed at stamping out illegal numbers games and raise income for government charities.

“The board decides on the new games and I trust they will do well,” Juico said in a telephone interview on Saturday.
Juico’s assurance was seconded by PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas.
Rojas said the PCSO would “continue to enhance and expand its gaming activities and revenues so we can increase our charity services to our kababayan nationwide.”
“All our lottery and allied games are designed to minimize or eradicate illegal number activities,” he said.
But PCSO officials and employees were saddened by Juico’s resignation, Rojas said.
Juico said she resigned because she needed to rest.
Rojas said that prior to Juico’s resignation, the PCSO was still evaluating the feasibility of replacing the Small Town Lottery (STL) with the Loterya ng Bayan (PLB). The agency’s other option is to retain and expand the STL. Tonette Orejas, Inquirer Central Luzon
