Saturday rain snarls traffic in parts of Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines—What could have been a respite from the summer heat instead turned into a nightmare as the brief rain snarled traffic in the major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.

According to the Twitter account of the Metro Manila Development Authority, moderate to heavy traffic has been reported on both lanes of C5 Road and Edsa.

Traffic was snarled just hours after Pagasa (Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) issued a thunderstorm advisory over Metro Manila, particularly Marikina and North Caloocan.

Traffic also worsened at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) on Saturday after a thunderstorm over Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales and Nueva Ecija.
