Army official injured in HQ explosion dies

25 injured in armory fire as bomb squads clear area

MANILA, Philippines- One of the army officials injured in the fire that set off series of explosions at the Philippine Army Headquarters in Fort Bonifacio on Wednesday died Friday morning, a military spokesman said.

Corporal Bernabe Mota died 10:01 a.m. this Friday at the V. Luna Hospital in Quezon City according to army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Noel Detoyato.

Detoyato said Bernabe’s body suffered burns covering 65 percent of his body.

Five other responders in Wednesday’s fire and explosion at the army camp are still at the V. Luna Hospital.

On Wednesday, more than 30 people from the military, fire bureau and volunteer groups were injured in the fire that set off series of explosions at the Army Support Command (Ascom) compound of the Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
