1 dead, 39 injured in two-bus crash in Laguna
MANILA, Philippines—A person reportedly died and at least 39 others were injured after the bus they were riding collided with another bus in Alaminos, Laguna Wednesday morning, police said.
Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, Laguna police director, said that an AB Liner bus going to Lucena, bumped into a Manila-bound Eaglestar Transit bus in the village of San Agustin in Alaminos around 9 a.m.
The still unidentified driver of the AB Liner allegedly died while his 33 passengers were injured, as well as six others from the Eaglestar bus, Cruz said.
Injured passengers were brought to the nearest hospital for treatment while the Eaglestar driver, identified as Avelino Uria Radito Calongsod, has been put under custody of Alaminos police, he said.
