Police found Ronald Cale, 38, a member of the village council in Cabuco, dead in the driver’s seat of his car around 4 a.m. in Barangay Hugo Perez, also in Trece Martires.
Cale had a gunshot wound in the nape which police believed was caused by a gun fired at close range, according to investigator PO2 Lester Luke Baysa of the Trece Martines police.
Investigators recovered at least three empty shells at the scene, Baysa said in a telephone interview.
Baysa said Cale was on his way home from General Trias town after playing an online casino game when he was waylaid and shot.
He said concerned citizens called for help after hearing gunshots in the area.
“Right now, we are still trying to piece together whatever information we get to determine the motive,” Baysa said.
