MANILA, Philippines—One decorated military officer is set to take the reins of the country’s naval forces.
Rear Admiral Jesus Millan is set to replace Vice Admiral Jose Luis Alano as the Philippine Navy’s Flag Officer-in-Command, according to a statement from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Alano will reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 on May 1 and Millan will assume the role on April 30 at the Naval Base Hereclao Alano, Sangley Point in Cavite.
Millan who is part of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1982 “is a professional navy officer.”
Millan is the current commander of Naval Forces Western Mindanao and was the former Chief of Naval Staff and Commander of the Naval Reserve Command.
Awards such as the Distinguished Navy Cross, Distinguished Service Star, and Bronze Cross Medals were conferred on Millan.
