Militants: Napoles as state witness is ‘clear travesty of justice’
MANILA, Philippines—While Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said on Tuesday that Janet Lim-Napoles could become a state witness if the investigation on her affidavit proved it would be plausible, a militant coalition quashed this idea on Wednesday.
Bayan Muna Representative Neri Colmenares said that Napoles becoming a state witness is a “clear travesty of justice.”
“Napoles is one of the main culprits in the pork barrel scam and this would be a clear travesty of justice,” said Colmenares whose group, Bayan Muna, is under the Makabayan Coalition bloc. “Napoles should be punished because of her crimes against the people.”
Also, Alliance of Concerned Teachers Representative Antonio Tinio said that Napoles should not receive immunity amid her willingness to tell all in the P10-billion ‘pork barrel’ scam.
