TODAY, April 23, is the 162nd birth anniversary of Bishop Jorge Barlin Imperial, the first Filipino Catholic bishop. Born in 1852, he was ordained to priesthood at the age of 28. His episcopal consecration was held on June 29, 1906, in Manila. Bishop Barlin also delivered the invocation at the inauguration of the Philippine Assembly in 1907. He died on Sept. 4, 1909.
