‘Dangerous’ heat index expected in 39 areas on May 2 — Pagasa

“Dangerous” levels of heat indexes are forecast over 39 areas across the country on Thursday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa defines the heat index as “a measure of the contribution that high humidity makes to abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself.”

Metro Manila LGUs adjust working hours

Some local government units (LGU) in Metro Manila announced on Wednesday that they will be adopting adjusted working hours for their LGU offices starting Thursday.

The cities made the announcement following a Metropolitan Manila Council resolution that recommended adjusted working hours for city government employees to alleviate traffic in the main roads of the capital region.

Businessman Cedric Lee, model Deniece Cornejo, and two other cohorts were meted 40 years’ imprisonment by the Taguig Regional Trial Court in connection with the case for a criminal case filed by actor-host Vhong Navarro in 2014.

The Taguig RTC found Lee, Cornejo, and their cohorts named Ferdinand Guerrero and Simeon Palma Raz, guilty of the serious illegal detention, a non-bailable offense, for which they are liable for reclusion perpetua. They were also ordered to jointly and severally pay a total pf P300,000 civil indemnity, as well as moral and exemplary damages.
