Medical mission marks Mama Mary’s birthday

In celebration of Mama Mary’s birthday, the De La Grotte de Lourdes Foundation organized a medical mission last Sept. 8 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto of St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish in Mabolo, Cebu City.

The medical team from the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Philippines and other doctors gave free consultations and medicines.

Dr. Fe Lola-Melgar, the foundation’s vice chairman andorganizer, said the medical mission, the first to be held by the foundation, was their way of doing something special for Mama Mary’s birthday.

The De La Grotte de Lourdes Foundation is responsible for organizing the Marian activities in St. Joseph the Patriarch parish and in propagating the devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes.

Mayette Pagapulaan, foundation secretary, said “The best way to celebrate Mama Mary’s birthday is to give assistance to the needy brothers and sisters.”

The medical mission was followed by a procession and a Mass celebrated by Msgr. Alfeo Manalili and co-celebrated by Msgr. Jose Dosado Jr., Msgr. Carlito Puno, Msgr. Alcazaren and Fr. Dennis Daitol. /UP Cebu Masscom student Christine M. Estrella
