4.9 quake jolts Batanes on Maundy Thursday

MANILA, Philippines–A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Batanes late Maundy Thursday, the state seismologist said.
In the latest bulletin of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake centered 171 kilometers southwest off the coast of Sabtang.

The offshore quake occurred at 11:47 p.m. on Thursday at a depth of 34 kilometers.
