MANILA, Philippines — A journalist was robbed of at least P115,000 in cash and valuables to a burglar who crept into his apartment as he was sleeping over the weekend in Quezon City.
David Faustino, 24, a reporter of the Solar News Channel, was resting early Sunday, when the lone thief slipped into his room in Barangay Socorro in Cubao.
The journalist lost a Samsung Galaxy S4 worth P30,000, an HP laptop worth P70,000, P15,000 in cash, a car key of a Mitsubishi Mirage, a handheld radio owned by Solar News, and other documents.
Based on surveillance camera footage, the suspect was described to be 5’6” to 5’8” tall, of medium build, and wearing a light-colored sweatshirt, jeans and cap and lugging a backpack.
Ronnie Ereno of the Cubao police station, the case investigator, said the break-in happened at around 3:29 a.m. Sunday at the victim’s apartment on 10th Avenue.
Prior to the burglary, Faustino and a roommate were sleeping inside their unit.
The burglar entered the apartment through the unlocked gate and then forced open the door of the apartment.
The complainants only learned of the break-in when they woke up at around 12:15 p.m. later that day and realized that Faustino’s valuables were missing.
Ereno said footage from the compound’s surveillance camera placed at the gate showed a man entering the compound at around 3:29 am.
