PALO, Leyte—Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II will personally turn over on Thursday rehabilitation funds worth around P1.8 billion for typhoon-devastated local government units in Leyte.
Roxas will distribute checks to 19 mayors of Leyte municipalities at Tierra de Milagros resort here.
Leyte is among the provinces hit hardest in November last year by the Super Typhoon Yolanda, which killed 6,268 and injured 28,689, based on the latest National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report.
The rehabilitation fund totaling P1,791,400,000 is part of the Reconstruction Assistance on Yolanda strategic plan for the “reconstruction and recovery of economy, lives, and livelihoods” in areas affected by Yolanda.
