LRT to halt operations for Holy Week
MANILA, Philippines—As some people would lay low on the Lenten Season, it is time for the public utilities to get on second gear to finish their maintenance checks.
After Maynilad announced that it would cancel water services for the Holy Week to reroute its pipes, the Light Rail Transit Administration would halt operations beginning Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday.
In a statement Tuesday, LRTA said that the non-operational days would be in “observance of the Lenten Season” and to give way for the annual scheduled maintenance of the LRT 1 and 2 systems.
April 16, Holy Wednesday, would be the last commercial train departures for the two lines with Line 1 (Baclaran to Roosevelt) at 8 p.m. and Line 2 (Santolan to Recto) at 8 p.m., from Santolan station, and 8:30 p.m., from Recto station.
Operations would resume on April 21, Monday, at 5 a.m.
