1,000 homes razed in Davao City fire
MANILA, Philippines—At least a thousand homes were razed in a fire that lasted about five hours in Davao City on Friday night.
The fire was caused by a lighted candle in the house of Tisay Mohammad at Isla Verde in 23-C Boulevard village at about 8p.m., Loreto Rirao, director of Office of Civil Defense in Region 11 said in a text message to reporters.
“As per report most houses are made of light materials and were raised to the ground,” he said.
At least 1,000 families were affected. There were no reported casualties.
The affected families were evacuated to Quezon Elementary School.
