MANILA, Philippines—Detained businesswoman and alleged pork barrel mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles may undergo operation this Sunday, given that her blood sugar would normalize, the Ospital ng Makati said Friday.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Perry Ishmael Peralta, Medical Director of Ospital ng Makati said that all standard procedures and diagnostic tests were done for the preparation of the removal of the cyst on Napoles’ uterus.

Peralta, however, said, “We will have to give Napoles’ doctors time to review tests and correlate findings. We are looking at two days.”

He added that if her doctors want to request for more time, then surgery may not push through by Sunday.

He said that the surgeons need to review the case and there should be a consensus between the medical team of Napoles (from St. Luke’s) and the doctors of Ospital ng Makati to push through the surgery this weekend.

“She is diabetic and we need to bring down her blood sugar,” he said.

He mentioned that the hospital is capable of addressing her condition but said “it is based on patient’s right to choose physician.”

He reassured the public that the hospital has no special treatment for Napoles.

“We have VIP protocols in place. We do not protect the VIP. We protect the patients,” he said.
