Meanwhile, the last school day is set on March 27, 2015, DepEd said.

The agency said schools may set a different date for the start and end of the academic calendar as long as it is not earlier than the first Monday of June and not later than the last day of August.

Schools may also observe national and local celebrations and holidays so long as the total number of school days be maintained. Otherwise, make-up classes should be done, DepEd said.

The shift was made to match the schools’ academic calendars of its southeast Asian counterparts ahead of the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) economic integration in 2015.
