Valenzuela City cops nab 3 robbers

MANILA, Philippines—Three burglars were arrested in Valenzuela City over the weekend, according to the police.

Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, city police chief, identified the suspects as 27-year-old Armamento said the three were arrested in separate incidents on Saturday and Sunday. The first suspect, Cabuang, broke into the house of Yolanda Francisco in Ciudad Grande Phase 1, Lingunan, on Saturday night. “The house was empty when he broke in as the family was away. However, when the victims returned at 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, the family discovered him inside their house,” Armamento said.

The victim tried to escape but was caught by barangay watchmen.

On Sunday, the police arrested Asunio and his teenage cohort after both broke into the unattended house of Kyra Sualibo on Ulingan Street in Barangay Lawang Bato. The two were able to take over P172,000 worth of gadgets, including a MacBook air, two laptops, a digital camera and a cell phone.

Sualibo discovered the burglary when she returned home around 4 p.m. on Sunday and reported it to the police. The teenager was arrested first and a separate team caught up with Asunio who still had the loot with him. Armamento said the three suspects would be charged with theft.—Nathaniel R. Melican
