Man tries to kill self

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – A 26-year-old man who was reportedly having problems finding a job tried to kill himself by jumping from the second level of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station in Kamuning, Quezon City on Monday morning.

Cristobal Delia landed on the southbound lane of Edsa and was taken to the nearby East Avenue Medical Center for cuts and bruises. He remained in the hospital, however, as doctors wanted to make sure he suffered no other serious injuries.

Senior Police Officer 1 John Sales of the Kamuning police station said the incident happened around 9 a.m.  The police later learned that Delia had been jobless for some time and was having a hard time looking for work. Julie M. Aurelio

P2M taken by burglars

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Two sisters lost around P2 million in cash and valuables to thieves who broke into their Quezon City house while they were away for the weekend.

Judith Anog, 47, said she and her sister Georgia Azor lost a laptop, several pieces of jewelry and an undetermined amount of cash to the still unidentified burglars. The break-in was discovered at 10 p.m. on Sunday at the victims’ house in Don Jose Heights, Barangay Commonwealth.

Inspector Alan dela Cruz, theft and robbery section head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said that at the moment, they were still looking for leads as there were no surveillance cameras in the area. Julie M. Aurelio
