Kidney patient needs money for medicine

CALDIT

MANILA, Philippines – Cristina Caldit’s life appears to have gone back to normal since she underwent a kidney transplant at the National Kidney Institute 12 years ago.

“I am in a much better situation now than when I had to submit myself to hemodialysis twice a week,” said the 40-year-old resident of Imus City.

The only downside to being a kidney transplant survivor, according to her, is that she has to take nine kinds of medication, including an injectable to keep her hemoglobin at a certain level, every day for the rest of her life.

For this, she needs to spend P23,000 a month. “I am knocking on the hearts of your readers because I have to take an antirejection medicine daily to help the new kidney survive on its own and in order for my body to accept it,” Caldit said.

Those who want to help her can call her at 0905-3928858. For donations, her BPI bank account number is 0136140929.
