Sisters robbed of P2M cash, valuables in QC home break-in

MANILA, Philippines — Two sisters lost around P2 million in cash and valuables to burglars who broke into their Quezon City house while they were away over the weekend.

Bayantel employee Judith Anog, 47, said she and her sister Georgia Azor lost a laptop, pieces of jewelry and undetermined amount of cash to unidentified thieves.

The break-in was discovered at around 10p.m. Sunday at the victim’s house in Don Jose Heights, Barangay Commonwealth.

Insp. Alan dela Cruz, theft and robbery section head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said there were no surveillance cameras that would have provided them with leads on the robbers’ identities.

Prior to the burglary, the sisters had left the house locked and unattended to go to their parents’ house in Cainta, Rizal, for their regular Sunday family gathering.

Upon returning home in the evening, the sisters noticed that the front door’s padlock was already undone, and that a sliding door and the door to the master bedroom were forced open.

The victims then checked the rest of the house and found out that their valuables were already missing. They then alerted authorities to the break-in.
