MANILA, Philippines—A concert to celebrate the forthcoming 500th birth anniversary on March 28, 2015, of St. Teresa of Avila will be staged on March 28 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines main theater.
Billed as “50 and 500,” the concert will feature the Philippine Madrigal Singers which is marking their 50th foundation anniversary. With a matinee at 3 p.m. and a gala performance at 8 p.m., “50 and 500” will feature a variety of pieces from lilting tunes to edifying ones, says Mark Anthony Carpio, Philippine Madrigal Singers conductor.
The “50 and 500” concert is organized by the National Commission on the Celebration of the 5th Birth Centenary of St. Teresa of Avila, the first woman to be proclaimed Doctor of the Church by the Catholic Church.
